THE POLLEN
Created in 2022 by FCCN, the digital services arm of FCT, POLEN aims to promote Open Science in the context of Digital Innovation and Technology (DIT).

Respond to the needs of the scientific community
POLEN aims to support the scientific community in best practices for managing and sharing research data. This service complements the set of Open Science services already provided by the FCT through the FCCN, FCT's digital services.

Foster an open, inclusive and transparent science
Effective research data management enhances the visibility of research projects and improves data accessibility, quality, and validation, ensuring data long-term preservation and, most importantly, facilitates data sharing and research reproducibility.

FCT funding beneficiaries
POLEN is intended for the research community, particularly institutions and researchers funded by the FCT. This scientific ecosystem can rely on research data management and sharing services, training and capacity-building initiatives, and alignment with RDM and Open Science projects and initiatives.
POLEN is based on 4 strategic axes
Governance and Policies
Definition of a strategy for RDM and the adoption of a policy on the management and sharing of data resulting from FCT-funded research
Services and Infrastructure
Provision of resources for effective management and sharing of research data
Communication and Dissemination
Promoting the adoption of Open Science and the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable data)
Convergence with other initiatives
Alignment with relevant national and international projects in the area of Research Data and Open Science
